This past week, I was drinking pretty heavily (Swedish Vodka 40%) for two days in a row. The first day, I had about half a glass of vodka with a friend over at my house. The second day, I must have had at least more than half a glass or the same towards the end of the day. When I drink alcohol, I metabolize it extremely fast even though I only weigh 125lb and I’m extremely skinny. I have a drinking habit of just keep drinking when I start to keep my buzz or stay “intoxicated.” I realize it was becoming a problem only because it was affecting my health negatively. I stopped drinking after that second night but I’ve had such terrible withdrawals. Symptoms that won’t go away even though my hangover is passed has been, ‘ My body feels sick & maybe its because all I’ve been eating lately is things like potatoes and white rice, I keep feeling like I’ve been punched in the stomach and I’m getting short of breath a lot, I keep experiencing random body pains all over my body randomly, I just feel really sore. I’m slowly but surely recovering my body but I’ve been trying to find ways to reverse the damage I have done to my body. I wouldn’t say I’m an alcohol addict because I don’t drink every single day, I don’t let it impair my life. Its just when the time does come where I drink, I find myself becoming really addicted to keeping my impaired state and so I over indulge my body with alcohol to the point where it gets me really sick. I think even a few times, this habit caused me to find blood when I went to the bathroom. The first time was because I thought I was sober enough but I still had alcohol in my body and I took one acetaminophen pill. The second time was after dosing myself with vodka for a very prolonged period without stopping to break. What I did was unacceptable but I’m glad I recognized it was a problem and decided to do something about it before it ran away and got out of hand.
Tomorrow I’m going to the vitamin store to pick up a couple things for my liver health. Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Milk Thistle. If any of you guys have any serious detox methods or advance on addressing self binge drinking, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks much.

so basically your body gets easily addicted to vodka/alcohol. lucky you recognized it and you should be really proud of yourself! withdrawals suck. just as you described, it’s like being sick with some weird flu. and it seems like it takes forever to get better, but know that you will
sometimes its genetics so you probably should never drink again – consider it poison. if you get the urge to, have instead some apple cider vinegar (1 part) and water (4 parts). it’s quite bitter. in the meantime, eat well, take a multi-vitamin at night and sleep a lot. your body will get better on its own. I hope a helped. and when you get through it, maybe you’ll be able to help someone else.
replace the alcohol with water.
I think you know the answer to your question which is really very simple. You just must stop drinking and you should feel better. The liver is the only organ in the body that has the ability to repair itself. If you stop drinking, your liver will heal on its own without any help from other medications or herbs. Milk Thistle research has shown that it is good for the liver so if you want to take something, you could try that one. It won’t help any serious liver disease, but it might help in your case. No alcohol is the one thing that is certain to work. You don’t have to drink every day to be an alcoholic. Binge drinking is also a form of alcoholism. You do admit that once you start drinking, you cannot stop until you drink too much and get sick. That is a definite sign that you cannot control your drinking. If you need help to stop, get some help. You know your habits and should be able to figure out if you have a drinking problem. If you are unable to stop, then you know there is a problem. Just because you can go days without it does not mean there is not a problem. I have known alcoholics that can go months without drinking and then all hell breaks loose with long binges. Good luck to you.
